“You were put on this earth to achieve your greatest self, to live out your purpose, and to do it courageously.”
There is a great quote from author, Sarah Dessen. She says, “There comes a time when the world gets quiet and the only thing left is your own heart. So you'd better learn the sound of it. Otherwise you'll never understand what it's saying.” This thought awakened in me how brief and finite life is.
Psychologists have stated given no deadline, a person will take the maximum amount of time to accomplish a goal. We all have dreams; in fact much of life, as Sigmund Freud deduced, is motivated by fear or love. However, many of us live a life full of longing but no desire to push out of our comfort zone or take risks required to live a fulfilled life.
So what keeps us young? What keeps us motivated? There are those in society- many of them celebrities, who seem to have found the fountain of youth. Through grace, happiness and often a private life, these people seem happy, balanced and youthful. So what is their secret? It is not in material things, or in financial success (although these do help) but it is in turning inward. Reflection, connection to self and living true to your self is the fountain of youth.
Are you willing to hunker down and find the fountain within?
