Blind Eyes

by Drue Ogden,
Dreams Desires

I’ve lied awake
For days dreaming
Four days of day dreaming
About being awake

The most desirable things
Are deeply unseen
Yearning for the feeling
Until something else must intervene

I go left
You go right
I prefer day
You want night

Games are meant for the weak
Turning a piece won’t get you far
You must turn your mind
To figure out who you are

It stared me down
While I was vulnerable
Watching the pray
Squirm on the dinner plate
Only to continue to lay

Would you lay
In the dark
With what you thought
Was your heart

But only to find
That the entire time
You’re the one
Who they declined

Present your heart on your face
Do you appear the same
Or would people be forced
To call you a different name

Blind your eyes
From what in the heart you feel
Vision is clear
Yet the heart blinds you still

No price or barter
It’s not for you to sell
Costing you your worth
Lock it in a cell
